ZOOTOPIA. MOANA. KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. SING. And MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI.
As award seasons is underway, one notable animated film most audiences haven’t heard of is MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI, a production from Swiss/France.
It received rave reviews from several notable critics and played at well-known film festivals like Cannes, Toronto International Film Festival and on the list at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. It was even nominated for the Golden Globes Award (lost to ZOOTOPIA) and is shortlisted for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.
This animated film is gearing up for US limited release and GKIDS released a US trailer with subtitles.
Here’s the synopsis:
After his mother’s sudden death, Zucchini is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this at times strange and hostile environment. But with Raymond’s help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own.
The animation is directed by Claude Barras, based on a script from Celine Sciamma (GIRLHOOD).
The English voices will be provided by Will Forte, Nick Offerman, Ellen Page and Amy Sedaris.
