Flop Kraven signals the end of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, plus Benedict Cumberbatch confirms his returns for Avengers: Doomsday. Let’s start with the popular series. In a recent chat with TVGroove Cumberbatch confirmed he will return for Avengers: Doomsday. I mean, we all knew he’d be back, but still.

“I’m really excited not only to work with the Russo Brothers again, but to have Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom. I think there’s going to be some really cool developments ahead”

Onto the less popular side of Marvel now and a new report from TheWrap indicates Kraven could be the final film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. (Please let this be true.) The Sony movies have all been awful, yep, every single one of them. Cheap, quickly made cash grabs, attempting to gaslight audiences into thinking they are MCU films.

According to the outlet the recent Kraven panel at CCXP was empty, of both stars and fans. Various sources have told the outlet that Sony is putting a hold on these spin-off movies. Instead the focus will be on the animated Spider-Verse movies, the Spider-Man Noir TV series and the next Spider-Man movie with Marvel. The article itself goes into some financial details about how much these movies have cost. More importantly, how their diminishing box office returns and reputation have fallen.

It seems even the clueless actors gaslighted into starring in these movies are starting to wake up to how badly they are made and received. Kraven will open in 25% less theatres than the first Venom movie did. The truth is, fans simply don’t want these movies. What fans want is Marvel to make more Spider-Man movies for Sony. In return, Marvel get to use the characters in their own films. It’s a relationship which works and prints free money for Sony. Consistently Sony have trebled their costs at least for each Marvel Studios Spider-Man movie. This is simply not the case for their much lower budget SSMU films.

Let’s hope these insider reports are correct and this is truly the end of the ill-advised and ill-devised SSMU.

What do you think of Benedict Cumberbatch confirming his return for Avengers: Doomsday? What of the reports that Kraven will signal the end of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? Thoughts below.
