Focus Features Announces Release Date For Wes Anderson’s Astroid City

Filmmaker Wes Anderson’s latest film Astroid City has been given a theatrical release date from Focus Features.

In partnership with Indian Publishing, Focus features have set a limited release for Astroid City on June 16, 2023, followed by a broader expansion for June 23, 2023. They will distribute the film domestically with Universal Pictures International distribution.

The film is written and directed by Anderson, based on a story by him and Roman Coppola. Anderson also produces the film with longtime collaborators Steven Rales, founder of Indian Paintbrush, and Jeremy Dawson.

Astroid City is a reunion between Anderson, Focus, and Indian Paintbrush since 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom.

The film features an all-star cast of talent. This includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum, Rita Wilson. It will be interesting to see how all of these stars come together in one film.

Astroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. Here is the synopsis provided by Focus Features:

The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Some of Anderson’s films include The Royal Tenenbaums, The French Dispatch, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Isle of Dogs.
