The human race always pits one group against another throughout world history. War after war. Genocide after genocide. The world thought it had learned its lesson after the Jewish Holocaust of World War II murdered countless people in Europe.
We say never again. Yet the world turns, and the humans continue to hate one another.
In the documentary For the Living, documentarians Marc Bennett and Tim Roper follow a Holocaust survivor participating in a cycling trip from Auschwitz-Brikenau to Krakow, Poland, for remembrance of those who died in the concentration camps. The filmmakers also explored the reasons for genocides and many historical incidents that repeat themselves.
Here is the official synopsis:
When 250 cyclists embark on a profound journey, retracing the liberation path of a Holocaust survivor from Auschwitz-Birkenau to Krakow, Poland, their odyssey inspires an urgent examination of humanity’s equally perilous journey from dehumanization to empathy—just as our species is now traveling down the most dangerous stretch of all.
