Frank Oz Doesn’t Think Disney Understands The Muppets

Disney is one of the largest media companies in the world. Over the last several years they’ve been collecting other studios and properties as if they were pokémon. Along with Marvel, Lucasfilm, and most recently the majority of Fox, another of the acquired pieces of media content are The Muppets.

The man who was the puppeteer for many of the classic characters including, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Animal, is none to happy with how they characters have been treated by The House of Mouse. Oz recently replied to a fan on Twitter and more or less said that the writers Disney is using, simply don’t get the characters, and is concerned that they never will. You can check out the tweet just below.

I watched The Muppets when I was younger of course, was never heavy into them, however, I completely understand Oz’s frustration with the way Disney has handled an acquired property. If you’re a regular LRM reader you probably know I am not the biggest fan of Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy, and how they have handled the iconic characters of the franchise.

Of course, it’s not all bad, as Marvel is owned by Disney, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the one all others are measured by, and will be for some time.
