A family full of freaks are still a family.
In Freaks, the film isn’t about humans hunting people with freakish super-human powers. It is more of a family trying to survive and hide from their human adversaries.
In one of the most surprising indie hits this year, Freaks is a film from the rising directors and writers Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins) and Adam B. Stein (Dead Rising: Watchtower).
The film stars Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild, The Girl Next Door), Bruce Dern (Nebraska, The Hateful Eight), Lexy Kolker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Shooter), Amanda Crew (The Haunting in Connecticut, Final Destination 3) and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica, Hawaii Five-0).
Here’s the official synopsis:
In this genre-bending psychological sci-fi thriller, a bold girl discovers a bizarre, threatening, and mysterious new world beyond her front door after she escapes her father’s protective and paranoid control.
