DC’s next film set to go into production is Shazam! Though there have been rumors abound that Shazam! was on the chopping block after the financial disappointment that was Justice League, casting continues, which means, at least for the time being, Shazam! is still a go.
Ian Chen (Fresh Off The Boat) and Jovan Armand (Bella and the Bulldogs) have been cast in Shazam!, per Deadline.
Chen is set to play Eugene and Armand will portray Pedro, friends of Billy Baston’s from a group home.
Set to be directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out), from a script by Henry Gayden (Earth To Echo) and Darren Lemke (Turbo), Shazam! tells the story of young Billy Baston, who when he utters the phrase “Shazam!” transforms into the fully adult superhero.
So far, the rest of the cast includes Asher Angel as Billy Baston, a very buff Zachary Levi (Chuck) as Shazam, and Jack Dylan Grazer (IT) as Freddy Freeman, another friend of Billy’s.
Though the film is expected to shoot in early 2018, there is no release date yet set for Shazam!
Shazam! (I had to write it just one more time…)
