Well… there are a lot of things we get that we’ve never asked for. Things like Bumblebee, 2016’s Ghostbusters, and Terminator: Genisys come to mind. Of those, only Bumblebee turned out okay and that’s really only when compared to the last few Transformers films. Not too long ago we found out we’d be getting yet another gift we weren’t looking for in the form of a G.I. Joe spin-off centered on Snake Eyes.
The role of the title character has gone to Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) and thanks to The Wrap we now know the role of Storm Shadow has gone to Andrew Koji (Warrior). The film will focus on Snake Eyes’ origin and time with the Arashikage Clan in Japan. It seems certain that his friendship and eventual falling out with Storm Shadow will be an important element of the film.
Koji and Golding will be directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and see their film hit the big screen on October 16th, 2020.
