CONFIRMED: Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Coming To Disney+ | D23 2019

Yesterday was a big day for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service. A lot of stuff was announced during the D23 convention in Anaheim yesterday and you can find a damned good write up HERE. One of the big surprises was Ewan McGregor coming out on stage during the announcement that the rumored (for years) Obi-Wan Kenobi series (sometimes rumored as a film) is indeed coming.

This is the one character that almost every Star Wars fan has agreed deserved an expansion on their story. Ever since Disney announced anthology spin-offs coming to the galaxy far, far away, people have been enamored with the idea of McGregor coming back to the Kenobi character. This is for good reason. McGregor did an amazing job with basically garbage scripts for the Prequel Trilogy. There are times he seems to be the only one on the screen trying. The idea that his Obi-Wan could get a better story with better writing is very exciting.

During the panel with LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy, it was revealed that all of the scripts are written and the series will film next year. There is no release date as of now.
