Get ready to bend the knee to House Targaryen. Much has been said in the books and the Game of Thrones series as to the reign of the infamous house — a house that ultimately ended with the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen. And of course, one plotline in the novels and series revolved around the rise of a new Targaryen in the form of Daenerys, but we’ll not talk spoilers her.
What is important is that fans have been hungry to see stories that delved into this lineage more and gave us an idea of why things went so badly for them. Well, apparently that’s exactly what we’ll be getting, according to Deadline.
The outlet states that another prequel series is nearing a pilot order from HBO, with author/co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and Colony co-creator/executive producer Ryan Condal at the head. This story will be set 300 years before Game of Thrones, “and tracks the beginning of the end for House Targaryen.”
This show will be created by the two mentioned above, with the script being written by Condal and based on the Fire & Blood companion book that recently came out.
So, is this one of the five spin-offs in the works already? Kinda, but not really. The outlet states that this is actually a rework of Bryan Cogman’s show that he stepped down from last April.
