Lives have been lost. Betrayals have been made. Swords have been broken. Spears have been shattered. Walls have been destroyed. Alliances have been formed and destroyed. In short, we’ve come a long way from that opening episode of Game of Thrones, which started off with the royal family taking up lodging with the respected nobles of Winterfell. Oh, how things have changed since then.
Over the past couple of seasons, we have seen fandom slowly turn on the series that has been given credit for the impending rise of fantasy series on television. As the show has passed up the source material, many of cited the show’s decrease in quality, but that hasn’t stopped the show from continually breaking ratings along the way. And now, after around a decade of being on the small screen, it’s time to say goodbye.
HBO has released the trailer for the final episode of the show, and in it, they really play things down. We see the rubble of battles past, the armies, and Daenerys approaching a destroyed King’s Landing. With this final episode, we’ll finally get to see who will sit on the Iron Throne, and if Dany will prove to be a worthy ruler or just a perpetuation of the “Mad King” moniker.
