Ooooooh, sh*t! It’s almost time, ladies and gents! It’s been nearly a decade of television, but it’s finally coming to an end in the eight season of Game of Thrones. We’ll finally know once and for all who sits on the Iron Throne, or even if there will be an Iron Throne once they are done confronting their enemies at the Wall.

Who’d’ve thought we’d come to a place where this is what we had to look forward to with TV. I remember in film school having dreams of long-form storytelling on TV, not unlike what Japan was doing with a lot of their anime series, but was told repeatedly by professors that it was never going to happen. Now, we have something here that could easily be right at home in theaters.

And you have to appreciate the confidence in this trailer. Yes, action is shown, but more emphasis is given to the characters, the emotional journeys they’ve gone on, and the inevitable ending drawing nearer. You can also feel that confidence in the info box below the trailer, which says:

No wasted characters. No grand synopsis. They know we know, and they know we’ll be there.
