Game Of Thrones: Why Maisie Williams Is Looking Forward To The Series Ending

The end of Game of Thrones is slowly approaching. While we still have a good while until that final season ends, fans are already dreading those final minutes to a truly rewarding series.

Though while many fans are dreading it, there’s at least one actress who is looking forward to it on some level. Speaking with BBC, Maisie Williams — who plays Arya Stark — revealed the reason why she’s excited to exit the highly successful HBO series.

“I’ve just started a production company, so I’m now realising how hard the industry can be. Coming back here and listening to all the films nominated and getting back into watching independent films just makes me realise how much I miss it. It’s the only place I’ve ever really wanted to be to be honest.”

“I’m really excited for Game of Thrones to finish and there’s going to be time for me to do whatever I want. That’s just incredibly exciting and it will be nice to pick roles that I want to do. I can show the world what sort of actress I want to be and shape my career a little bit.”

Of course, you can hardly blame her. Williams was very young when the show started, and as such, her entire identity to many is shaped by this one role. Once it’s over, she’ll be able to go off and do other roles she hasn’t been able to. As someone who’s only been able to work a few acting muscles over the years, it very much may feel like she’s seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
