In a series of social media posts James Gunn says Superman is now locked and finished, plus he confirms the runtime of the film. Let’s begin with a post Gunn made on Instagram. In the post Gunn reveals that the final VFX has been completed. The film is now locked to the theatrical version we will see in theatres this July.

‘Our last visual effect shot has been finished and dropped into Superman. We are now 100% done. Thanks to all my collaborators!’

‘It has been a joy. And for the rest of you – I can’t wait for you to see the movie July 11.’

In a separate post on Threads, Gunn confirmed that the runtime for Superman is 2 hours and 9 minutes. This also includes credits and a post-credit scene.

‘Yes. Inclusive of credits/post credits the runtime is 2 hours 9 minutes.’

Finally, in response to some rumors that Gunn was forced to cut down Superman by WB bosses Gunn replied on Threads with this.

‘Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.’

So any decisions on the final cut of this film were ultimately made by either Gunn or his partner Peter Safran as heads of the studio. We have heard edits have been made across the course of test screenings, but that’s not uncommon for any big film.

So, Superman is now locked for theatrical release and James Gunn also confirms the runtime of 2 Hours and 9 minutes, which includes a post-credit scene. As always, leave any thoughts you have on this story below.
