Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a movie that worries a lot of Ghostbusters fans. Take a look at our own Kyle Malone! With Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman, writing and directing this “Ghostbusters 3,” some fans have been slightly optimistic. I mean, even Bill Murray is back and wearing the proton pack.
Unfortunately, Sony today released possibly the worst clip possible. And I’m hoping this is the worst scene in the movie. This is because it’s basically a scene from Yoga Hosers, which is Kevin Smith’s worst movie, by far.
Take a look at the Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip from Sony first and then I’ll explain
Cool. We got the classic theme, some comedy from Paul Rudd, and fierce mini-Stay-Pufts. Not terrible looking.
Then, it struck me where I had seen it before. Rather, another fan noticed it looked a lot like a scene from Kevin Smith’s terrible film Yoga Hosers. Then Smith saw the tweet about Ghostbusters: Afterlife and added some context for most who have never seen or heard of the film.
Hey @JasonReitman!
This looks awesome!
Can my kids come over to play with your kids?

Ugh… this comparison adds new context, making the Ghostbusters: Afterlife scene look totally terrible.
What you see above are Nazi sausages played by Kevin Smith. They show up in a convenience store and act very much like these Stay-Pufts that seemingly murder each other.
Now I hate the scene. Not because it “rips off” Kevin Smith. I wouldn’t say it does at all. Rather, it reminds me of one of the worst scenes I have ever seen in a movie. So, by selecting this as their first advertising since before the pandemic, Sony has turned me completely off to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Luckily, most Ghostbuster fans have never seen Yoga Hosers. So without that added context, maybe they’ll like it? Time, and hopefully better advertising, will tell.
