While I still maintain that Ghostbusters fans freaked out way too much over the 2016 reboot, one thing was understandable about the movie: it didn’t feel like Ghostbusters. Its sense of humor was broader and its tone more over-the-top, and for a film that mostly worked thanks to its dry sense of humor, I can see why many didn’t like what the Paul Feig movie had to offer, even if they overreacted.
But what about this latest film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife? It comes from Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan Reitman, who helmed that first movie, so it would seem they’d be making something just a tad closer to the source material, right?

Well, have a look at the new trailer.
So, on the whole, I actually like it, but I think this one feels more like an Amblin film than a Ghostbusters movie. With its kid-centric premise and its emphasis on discovery and wonder, it falls right in line with movies like The Goonies and E.T. the Extraterrestrial. Given that many fans worried the film would be too childish and goofy thanks to its teen leads, this seems quite promising.
At the very least, viewers actually seem to enjoy the trailer, based on the Like/Dislike ratio on YouTube.
