In recent official news it has been revealed that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire features the return of Slimer. Yes, that annoying green ghost from the original Ghostbusters, who also briefly showed up in Ghostbusters 2. Not to be confused with either the weird 2016 version or the loveable pet version from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. As you will see below, this is the OG design.
The official Ghostbusters X account shows off a new standee for theatres and look who we can see.

As we know, slimer was not included in Ghostbusters: Afterlife because director Jason Reitman felt he was an NYC ghost and that they needed their own ghosts for Oklahoma. However, Frozen Empire will of course take us back to the Ghostbusters home city of New York.

One of Frozen Empire‘s new cast members recently commented on the movies and said it has genuine scares in it. Kumail Nanjiani in a recent interview with UPI had this to say about what is effectively Ghostbusters 4.
“There’s some really, genuinely scary stuff,” he said in Los Angeles during an interview for his new animated film Migration. “The scary stuff is actually scary.”
“The danger is very real and the stakes are very high,” Nanjiani said. “That makes the comedy even funnier. Everybody gets to be funny.”
“We actually just finished a couple days ago,” Nanjiani said. “I got to work with people who have been my heroes for a long time and people who I admire.”
Sounds good, but I hope the general plot has a bit more going for it than Afterlife. There was a good film in there trying to get out, but for it failed to make us care about the new characters enough. It was just pure nostalgia overload for me. Sony, being Sony will hope that works again, whereas I hope they make a decent story that can stand alone.
So, what do you think then as Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire features the return of Slimer? Thoughts below as always.
