Ghostbusters: Paul Feig Supports Leslie Jones’ Angry Comments

It’s an interesting time to be a Ghostbusters fan. This is a franchise that will seemingly never die, and yet also seemingly never actually deliver something fans want to actually see. Ghostbusters 2016 was under fire the very instant it was announced, and the finished product did nothing to assuage the anger fans had been feeling since the beginning. Now, with the announcement from Sony, Ghostbusters 2016 actress Leslie Jones took to Twitter to vent her frustration.

“So insulting. Like f**k us,” Jones wrote on the social media platform. “We dint (sic) count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice)”Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers” ugh so annoying. Such a d**k move. And I don’t give f**k I’m saying something!!”

She wasn’t the only one expressing frustration. Paul Feig, director of the recent film A Simple Favor and the Ghostbusters 2016 film also expressed his agreement with his actress, saying:

“An absolute honest to God never ending supply of bulls**t and hate from these trolls. Leslie spoke her truth and I support her. I am very open to Jason’s new version of GB but am also sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again. We all are. We’re forever proud of our movie.”

Personally, I will say a lot of the vehemence fans felt as soon as Ghostbusters 2016 was announced was unwarranted. As I expressed way back when, fans were already predisposed to hate it the second it was confirmed it would star four women and not the original cast. That being said, while the film is harmless fun for me, I can understand that it doesn’t have the same feel as the original Ghostbusters. That being said, I’ve never been a rabid Ghostbusters fan, so that’s the perspective I’m coming from.

Will this new revamp rumored to star four teens (two boys, two girls) help bring back what fans have grown to love from the franchise? Probably not, but you never know, right?
