It’s because of this that the latest news from Deadline is so interesting. According to the outlet, A Simple Favor, Spy, The Heat, and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is set to write and direct a monster movie called Dark Army, which will feature original characters from the comedy filmmaker.

The film will somehow be connected to a universe of Universal monsters, though it is unclear why. It will supposedly feature “Universal’s classic monster library and original characters created by Feig.” In short, it feels like some interesting mix of old and new.
There’s no word on what the tone of this thing will be. While Feig has generally done comedies in the past, he’s also toyed with action and thriller genres, with movies like A Simple Favor kind of hopping in and out of different genres at any given moment.
If nothing else, this is an unexpected and interesting move I can’t wait to see, as I’m a huge fan of Feig’s. What do you think of this idea? Let us know down below!
