The new Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed trailer has revealed a new co-op game set in the late Ivan Reitman’s beloved franchise. Ghostbusters first hit theaters in 1984 and almost instantly became a cultural phenomenon. The popular franchise has had its ectoplasmic appendages in everything from cartoons to comics and video games. The wildly popular Ghostbusters: The Video Game from 2009 showed you what it was like to be a Ghostbuster, but this new game aims to teach you how to work with a TEAM of Ghostbusters. Oh, and you can be a ghost too!
Illfonic is the team behind the Resident Evil: Resistance-like game, in which you compete against computer or player controlled ghosts or Ghostbusters. Dead By Daylight is another game that you may be able to connect with to get an idea of what is going on here. The compy describes the game in this way:
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is coming to a platform near you. As a Ghostbuster, join with other Ghostbusters to chase and trap ghosts in museums, prisons, hotels, and more, and capture the ghosts before they can fully haunt the areas. Or, as the Ghost, hide, sneak, surprise, scare, and of course, slime Ghostbusters and civilians until everything has gone completely spooky. Use trickery, deception, and Ectoplasm to gain the upper hand and drive the Ghostbusters out.
You may know the company from its other properties like Friday The 13th: The Game, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Star Citizen.

The game footage looks fine, but I am not a big fan of these types of games. Call it trust issues with my team. However, I will say that the movement and effects look poor compared to the 2009 game. That becomes doubly true when you look at the GB: TVG- Remastered released in 2019. You can take a look at that trailer below, and I can’t recommend the game enough.
I hope the game is fun, and I would love to have something Ghostbusters related to play with my son, but we’ll have to wait and see. There is no hard-date for release on this game yet.
