GKIDS Blu-Ray Lineup Reveal Exclusively at GKIDS Store | Anime Expo 2026

GKIDS has always been a collector’s paradise for lovers of physical media, particularly for fans of favorite animated titles.

In anticipation of the next twelve months of Blu-ray releases, fans packed the GKIDS panel to glimpse into the future of home entertainment from the delightful distributor.

Unlike past releases, GKIDS made a surprise announcement that it will now also release certain live-action films, not just concentrate on animated films.

The following is the Blu-ray film lineup officially available for pre-order on its GKIDS online store at https://store.gkids.com. These exclusive releases feature new artwork, premium packaging, and anticipated bonus content.

“As a team of home video collectors and enthusiasts, we strive to honor the legacies and fandoms of the films and television shows that we distribute,” said GKIDS’ director of home entertainment Alison Kozberg. “By investing in thoughtfully curated, enduring releases, we are preserving these landmark works for future generations. We hope to deepen connections to production history and craftsmanship, celebrating amazing artists, and create sets that are beautiful, meaningful and worth holding onto.”

The home entertainment announcements made at Anime Expo 2026:

LINDA LINDA LINDA Collector’s Edition (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray)

Linda Linda Linda is a coming-of-age story of high school girls jamming to music. The film is praised for its soundtrack from iconic Japanese bands, such as The Blue Hearts and Base Ball Bear, with original music composed by James Iha of The Smashing Pumpkins. It was acknowledged as one of the greatest Japanese films of the 21st century, directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita (Ghost Cat Anzu). It was re-released by GKIDS for its 20th anniversary.

The collection’s edition features a rigid outer case and specialty packaging, a sticker sheet, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a new essay, “There’s a Beauty that Can’t Be Seen in Photos,” by David Ehrlich. The release date is August 25, 2026.

For Kei, Kyoko, and Nozomi, their dream of playing the final high school concert together is dashed when their lead vocalist quits the band. Desperate, they recruit the very first person they see: Korean exchange student Song, played by Doona Bae (The Host, Broker), whose comprehension of Japanese is limited at best. It’s a race against time as the group struggles to learn three songs in three days for the festival’s rock concert.

LOOK BACK Collector’s Edition (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray)

Look Back is based on the acclaimed manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, and is a heart-wrenching story that’ll guarantee tears. It is the directorial debut of Kiyotaka Oshiyama.

The edition contains bonus features like “The Making of Look Book, audio commentary, director interview, cast interviews, trailers, and a 160-page art booklet. The release date is September 8, 2026.

Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful artwork sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing.

ANGEL’S EGG COLLECTOR’S EDITION (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray)

GKIDS is issuing an all-new 4K restoration, as it’s been 40 years since the film’s original release, and it’s supervised by director Mamoru Oshii. The original film was a creative collaboration between director Oshii (Ghost in the Shell) and artist Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D). It reflects Oshii’s philosophical and theological themes, paired with Amano’s ink-painting style, to create a beautiful hand-drawn allegorical fantasy.

The specialty packaging features artwork by Yoshitaka Amano. Additional bonuses include four exclusive art cards illustrated by Amano, and an exclusive booklet featuring a new essay by Danielle Burgos. The release date is September 22, 2026.

In an underwater city, a young girl takes care of a large egg she holds carefully in her arms. A boy with a gun arrives in search of a bird he saw in his dream. At first, it seems as if feelings of sympathy are developing between the two.

LOVE & POP (HD Blu-ray)

Love & Pop is the commercial live-action debut film from Hideaki Anno, chief director of Evangelion series. It is a stylistic approach to teenage ennui, using handheld digital cameras, distorted lenses, and unique camera angles as a Japanese youth navigates the streets of Shibuya.

The bonus features include an exclusive booklet with Hideaki Anno: Evangelion and Love & Pop, TV spots, teasers, and trailers. The release date is October 6, 2026.

July 1997. Tokyo schoolgirl Hiromi and her friends spend the summer going on dates with older men for money. Armed with only a cellphone, Hiromi sets out to date her way to 128,000 Yen in order to purchase an expensive topaz ring before the mall closes for the day.
