Goosebumps 2 Begins Filming, Gets New Title

Surprise! Right under our very noses, it looks like Goosebumps 2 has begun filming, as revealed by a recent tweet from author R.L. Stine. However, that wasn’t the only news he had to share.

In addition to filming, it looks like the flick’ll be getting a slight title change. Up until now, it’s been known as Goosebumps: Slappy’s Revenge. The film is now being called Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween, which I personally don’t think is a very good name (though the books have always had silly and strange names, anyways, right?). Stine also announced that the book Goosebumps Slappy World has come out, which is a clear indication that they’ve gone all-in on Slappy, haven’t they?

This is a bit of an interesting development for the film. While the cast has been rounding itself out for some time now, it only got a new director this past December. While that in and of itself would be no big deal, there were reportedly multiple scripts in the works for the sequel, one of which has Jack Black returning as the character R.L. Stine, and one that doesn’t. As of this writing, it’s not clear what approach they took, but I suppose it’s too late now!

While Black’s return is still up in the air, there are a lot of other characters who are set to star, indicating that perhaps they’ll be going a different direction with this sequel (maybe the original kids got too old?). We’ll have to wait and see.
