Who would’ve thought that a GOOSEBUMPS movie was ever going to come out starring Jack Black? What’s more is that the film was actually a fun watch. While the film didn’t really set the world on fire, it did more than its fair share in bringing Sony some much-needed, bringing in about $156 million worldwide on a modest $58 million budget.
According to THR, Sony is looking to bring back the fun family flick for a sequel. According to the outlet, the studio is close to locking down Rob Letterman to direct and Darren Lemke to write, who both contributed in their same respective roles for the first film. Returning as producers will be Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz.
Of course, the million dollar question is whether or not we’ll be seeing Jack Black return for the GOOSEBUMPS sequel. The actor portrayed an eccentric interpretation of writer R.L. Stine in the film, and given that all the books sprouted from the mind of his character, it’d be a bit strange to have another movie without him. With the bulk of the creative team making their way back, however, it seems like getting Black to return won’t be too difficult, but it remains to be seen.
