Gotham’s Ben McKenzie On Easter Eggs In Gotham’s Final Season

Without a doubt one of our favorite things about FOX’s Gotham has always been the Batman Easter Eggs that have been spread out throughout 4 seasons. Everything from characters and locations that Batman fans have easily recognized.

Now with the fifth and final season of Gotham coming next year, the thought is that there will probably be quite a few more Easter Eggs. Lucky for us this can be confirmed by James Gordon himself actor Ben McKenzie during an interview he had with comicbook.com at this year’s New York Comic Con.

“I’m not sure how much I can say about them but they definitely will be there. I will put it this way, a lot of the questions we get asked at comic cons like ‘when you gonna do this, when you gonna do this.’ Well, right now! Right damn now we’re gonna do them because we don’t have anymore time.”

With only one season left, there is not a lot of time to fit so many hints and nods to the world of the Dark Knight. With that said McKenzie also said that the inclusion of these Easter Eggs will feel organic and not forced or random.

“I don’t think we’re just throwing things at the wall we’ve created- I think John Stevens and the writers have created a pretty great- not just template in No Man’s Land for sort of all hell to literally and figuratively break loose but also a plan throughout those 10 episodes to sprinkle in all those things the fans want to see in a way that pays off. A way that doesn’t just seem like lip service that actually feels like it’s part of the 98 episodes we would’ve done in the course of five years.”

With so much happening in Gotham as they are cut off from the world, we’ll see how many interesting Easter Eggs they are able to fit. What Batman Easter Eggs would you like to see in the final season? Let us know in the comment section below!
