Rockstar Games had to release the new trailer to Grand Theft Auto VI earlier than expected due to an unconfirmed trailer appearing on social media X today. The trailer was quickly taken down, but it was too late.
So instead of unveiling the new trailer tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET, the video game company released its new trailer on YouTube. On X, its social media handle wrote, “Our trailer has leaked, so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”
The leaker’s account has been immediately suspended.
The trailer introduces Lucia as the main protagonist in the Miami-like setting of Vice City, full of beaches, swamps, and quite a slewful of interesting characters of white trash and street gangs. It even has appearances of alligators, nightlife, day parties, and even street racing. It even has hints of social media shots similar to TikTok and live streams that incorporate the new era of social media into video games.
The trailer even continued with Lucia teaming up with an unidentified male character to possibly go on a crime spree similar to Bonnie and Clyde. Hopefully, more will be released soon in terms of other characters and plot.

Rockstar Games has been battling leakers in the past few years for this most-anticipated next installment of the video game series. No doubt the earlier trailer release didn’t hurt in terms of publicity, as it will be one of the most talked about video games heading into the Game Awards 2023 this week.
At this time, Rockstar Games didn’t mention a specific release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 except that it’s coming in 2025.
