Lionsgate has announced that GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION, the followup to the 2020 disaster hit GREENLAND, will arrive on Premium Digital and Premium Video on Demand beginning January 27.
Starring Gerard Butler once again as reluctant hero John Garrity, GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION picks up in the aftermath of the catastrophic comet strike that left most of Earth uninhabitable. After finding temporary refuge in a bunker in Greenland, John, his wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and their son Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis) are forced to venture back into the open world in search of a new place to call home.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen), the sequel leans hard into emotional stakes as much as large scale destruction. The film follows the Garrity family on a perilous journey across a shattered planet, driven by rumors of a safe haven and sustained by hope, love, and the instinct to survive at all costs. Along the way, their bond is tested by impossible choices and relentless danger.
The cast also includes Amber Rose Revah (TV’s “The Punisher”), Sophie Thompson (Emma), Trond Fausa Aurvåg (Oppenheimer), and William Abadie (TV’s “Emily in Paris”). The screenplay was written by Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling, based on characters created by Sparling, who also penned the original film.
Fans eager to experience the sequel at home won’t have to wait long. On January 26, GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION will be available to rent via Premium Video on Demand for a 48-hour window, and to purchase digitally via Premium Electronic Sell-Thru. Participating platforms include Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Google TV, YouTube, and other major digital retailers.
