Guardians 3 Set In Present Day MCU Confirms James Gunn

Guardians 3 set in present day MCU confirms James Gunn. The director recently has been communicating with fans on Twitter. You may have seen our updated story linked below, in which Gunn confirmed Will Poulter will be Adam Warlock in the movie. However he also began commenting on an outlets speculation article. The premise was, what will happen to all the Guardians by the end of Vol. 3? There was some vague speculation that Guardians 3 could be set directly after, or even before Endgame. Nope!

Gunn as you can see below, took to Twitter to say they got one of them right, of course, we do not know which one? However, one fan then asked Gunn if we’d see a amore mature Groot in the threequel. Gunn confirmed years have passed since we last saw Groot, and then confirmed the movie will be set in the present day (of the MCU).

I’ll be honest, I really don’t think there could have been any other possibilities. If set between Infinity War and Endgame, Gunn is forced to keep the status quo, and there’d be no Gamora. Given the 5 year time jump in Endgame, it’s likely Guardians 3 takes place not too long after Endgame anyway. After all, we are probably looking at a couple years at most. I therefore do not expect we will see Groot looking like he did in Guardians of the Galaxy, but clearly he will be bigger, and perhaps more emotionally mature in the threequel.

Given the most popular fan theory is that Rocket will not survive Vol. 3, it would be pretty emotional for Groot to go through. I guess whereas they used to be friends, Groot and Rocket have more of a father/son relationship now. My bet is that Rocket will give up some kind of happiness in order to sacrifice himself to save Groot and perhaps the others. It would be a nice arc given how the first movie ended with Groot making the sacrifice.

Although, it would suck to lose Rocket from the MCU. Maybe I’m wrong, as it’s not like it’s an actor ageing causing any issues with Rocket? I guess we will find out in good time.

You happy to hear Guardians 3 set in present day MCU, and not any of this speculative timeline nonsense? Sound off below about any of the comments from James Gunn. .
