Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Apparently Using James Gunn’s Script

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been delayed indefinitely, it doesn’t sound like anyone has to worry about the movie never happening. The firing of James Gunn as the director was certainly quite the setback — both in its production and in morale for the cast — it sounds like there is a path forward for this threequel, and it may even include Gunn in the slightest capacity.

Gunn had already finished the script by the time he was sacked, and was even set to begin production around this time. But when he was let go, we all wondered whether or not they would actually use the script he wrote. Speaking with MTV, actor Chris Pratt was asked the question point blank, and he answered with an instant, “Yeah.”

Then, when asked if he’d read it, he responded:

“Yeah, I have [read it]. It’s off the chain. It’s so good. It’s so good.”

This is quite the interesting development, as it then sounds like the director is all we’re waiting for here. Once they find someone, they’ll likely tinker with the script to make it more theirs, but at least it has a solid foundation, right? With all that in mind, it has to be a bittersweet forthcoming enterprise. Regarding that, Pratt said:

“Well, I love James. I’m loyal to James and I love him so much. And we’re going to deliver the movie and we’re going to give fans the movie they deserve. And I think it’s in the nature of the Guardians of the Galaxy to come together and get the job done. And that’s what we’ll do.”

Well, at least we’re getting a movie! My only question is whether or not the infamously-loyal Dave Bautista will be involved, or if they’ll need to make changes to the screenplay so they can relieve him of his contract.
