October is finally here and with that comes the horror sequel from director David Gordon Green, Halloween. This will be the third film in the franchise that will have that same title. The first being John Carpenter’s first film in 1978 and Rob Zombie’s remake in 2007. But this film almost had a completely different title.

According to Entertainment Weekly, they considered a number of other titles for example The Shape. This would be a reference to the name given to the character of masked killer Michael Myers in the final credits of Carpenter’s film. Speaking about that Green said that, “That was a weird discussion. You know, do we call it The Shape? Do we call it Halloween Returns? What do you call it? Technically, it’s the third Halloween II. It kind of got to the point where we were like, ‘Well, we don’t want to not invite anybody. We don’t want someone who is unfamiliar with the previous films to think, well, I need to catch up.’ So then we just thought, for simplicity, let’s just call it Halloween.”

Classic horror franchises like Halloween should always keep to their usual names, a name like The Shape would have been a terrible idea. In this film Jamie Lee Curtis is back and is joined by Judy Greer, Andi Matichak and Toby Huss.
