Harley Quinn Renewed For Season 3 At HBO Max, No Longer DC Universe Series

Harley Quinn is getting a Season 3, but not at DC Universe.

Ah, yes. The world is slowly finding balance. For the past few years, DC Universe has held a few pretty solid shows hostage. From Doom Patrol to Harley Quinn, There have been gems that are great on their own, but not exactly streaming service lynchpins. Over the past few months, however, we’ve seen the DC Universe catalog slowly disperse. Swamp Thing moved to The CW and Doom Patrol to HBO Max. However, for a while, Harley Quinn stayed strictly DC Universe.

When the mature animated series finally moved its first two seasons to HBO Max, I was thrilled. It seemed like DC Universe had finally taken stock and realized they needed to reassess their model. But would Harley Quinn actually get another season? While the second season did conclude in a way that could be considered a solid series-ending finale, many fans wanted more. And more they shall receive, and as expected, it won’t be at DC Universe.

Harley Quinn, instead, has been renewed for a third season at HBO Max. It joins Doom Patrol and Titans as shows that will offshoot from DC Universe to its sister service. And as far as DC Universe goes? Well, it will be reworked into a comics-only service. More on that later today!

For the time being, Harley Quinn fans can rejoice that the violent queen of crime will have another go — this time with a much wider audience to enjoy. Like many, I didn’t hop on the show until it hit HBO Max, and quickly blew through it. It’s a show that starts strong and continues strong. It mixes comedy and heart incredibly well, and refuses to let a status quo establish itself, which is great.
