Star Harrison Ford talks about his experience filming Captain America: New World Order, where he will play President Ross. Ford takes over the MCU role from William Hurt after his sad passing. Chatting with Esquire Magazine, Ford says he’s had fun on set, but not too much fun, it is work after all. That was the question Ford was asked by the interviewer, was it fun to make a Marvel movie?
“Uh,” he said. “Yeah. I mean, there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”
For a man who has an extremely grumpy outward image to promoting his movies, that’s actually fairly positive. I mean Ford was never that positive about making Star Wars movies in any interviews I’ve heard or read. Filming is still underway on New World Order, though whether Ford himself has finished his shoot we cannot say? We also know Ford will reprise this role for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. As we reported recently, production on Thunderbolts has been delayed due the WGA strike currently in action.
Whether we see Ford as Ross again after that is anyone’s guess at this point? There are even rumors that Ford will end up becoming Red Hulk at some point. Which, of course would match the comic books. However, for now that’s all just rumor and speculation, probably fueled by the inclusion of Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader for the first time since The Incredible Hulk. For now there appears to be no signs of Mark Ruffalo showing up as Hulk in either New World Order or Thunderbolts. However, you never know, these movies are still able to keep some secrets from insiders.

It would be fair to say Ford may well be my favorite actor. Hardly a surprise given that two of his movies are in my all time top 5, which likely will never change now. If you want to know, my top 5 is Jaws, The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather Part 2. Therefore I’m a fan of Ford joining the MCU in a role appropriate to his age and stature.
Whether Ford works in the role, and the movie works a whole remains to be seen. You can see Ford first in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which releases on June 30th, after that, we need to wait for Captain America and Ford’s MCU debut.
