Spider-Man 4 In Development As Is Live-Action Miles Morales Movie And Animated Spider-Woman

Spider-Man 4 is in development, as is a live-action Miles Morales movie and an animated Spider-Woman film say Sony.

Spider-Man 4 is still in development as is a live-action Miles Morales movie and an animated Spider-Woman. That’s what Variety is reporting following chats with various Sony producers at the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Of course, we all knew there would be a Spider-Man 4 in conjunction with Marvel Studios. However, the other two projects mentioned are new information.

As reported by the trade:

Producer Amy Pascal says a Spider-Woman and live-action Miles Morales movie are in the works. “You’ll see all of it,” she told me Tuesday at the “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” premiere in Los Angeles. “It’s all happening.”

Producer Avi Arad teased that moviegoers will see a “Spider-Woman” movie “sooner than you expect. I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming,” he said.

As for the next MCU entry of Spider-Man?

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” said Pascal. “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

As for Sony boss Tom Rothman? Well, let’s say his answer was a bit less of a commitment.

He laughed, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

My own personal interest is centered squarely on Spider-Man 4. However, it seems Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is also expanding. Frankly the idea of Sony making their own Miles Morales live-action movies makes a lot of sense. Sony has for a while had a Spider-Man problem in their SSMU. In other words, so far, there isn’t one. Whereas on the animated front, Sony has every possible version of Spider-Man crammed into their Spider-Verse trilogy. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be that trilogy capper and it comes out next Summer.

If we go by the Marvel comics, Spider-Woman was never really anything to do with Spider-Man. However, perhaps a Sony Spider-Woman movie would star Spider-Gwen rather than Jessica Drew? I have no idea quite frankly, and until we have more details I guess there are a number of possibilities.

So what do you think of all this Sony Spider-Man news? Spider-Man 4 is in development, as is a live-action Miles Morales movie and an animated Spider-Woman film. As always, leave any thoughts below.
