When you’re hot, you’re hot.
Ezra Miller has been on a roll ever since his well-received performances in Perks of Being A Wallflower and We Need To Talk About Kevin. Personally, the young actor has been on my radar ever since I saw him in Andy Garcia’s great little indie City Island. We all ready know that Warner Bros and Zack Snyder tapped him to star in the DC Cinematic Universe as The Flash, but it looks like the studio has even more plans for him.
According to Variety, Miller is the top candidate for a role in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the hotly-anticipated Harry Potter spinoff. They want him to play Kredan, a man with magical powers that our hero Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) comes across in New York while on his adventures to find and document new fantastical creatures. An inside source for the trade says Miller has always been the top choice, but has now become the official target.
As of press time, there’s no word on how close the two sides are to reaching a deal, but considering both franchises are housed at Warner Bros it shouldn’t be hard for the logistics to be worked out. The film will be directed by Potter veteran David Yates, and will be working off of a script by Potter-creator J.K. Rowling herself.
