Has Captain Marvel’s Runtime Been Revealed?

Oh, the elusive runtime. Many a bottle of ink has been tapped speculating on the runtime of countless films in the past. It may seem silly or stupid, but in knowing how long a film runs, we get an idea of just what kind of story we’ll be getting. For example, the instant we knew Avengers: Infinity War would be two hours and 30 minutes, we knew we were in for a hefty adventure. Similarly, with all signs pointing to Avengers: Endgame nearing three hours in length, we know it’s bound to be jampacked with action and story.

But what about that little film that’s set to hit BEFORE Avengers: Endgame? I’m talking about Captain Marvel, a movie that will introduce audiences to Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. From what we know, she will be taking over as the super-franchise leader following Captain America’s departure, so it’s kind of a big deal. But how long will her origin tale be?

AMC Theatres has posted the runtime for the film, and it has it set at two hours and 10 minutes, or 130 minutes. This is a pretty solid runtime for an origin film. It’s not too incredibly long, but it running north of two hours seems to indicate there is some meat on its bones. For reference, that’s around the same length as Thor: Ragnarok (130 minutes), Spider-man: Homecoming (133 minutes), and Black Panther (134 minutes).

Perhaps better comparisons are actual origin films like Iron Man (126 minutes), Thor (114 minutes), and Guardians of the Galaxy (122 minutes).

With all that in mind, do you think around 130 minutes is fitting for Captain Marvel‘s first outing? Let us know your thoughts down below!
