Remember when I exclusively revealed that Marvel had taken a meeting with Johnny Depp about taking on the role of the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange? Well, while those talks unfortunately went nowhere, it looks like Marvel may be staying in the Depp mindset. According to This Is Infamous, the new frontrunner for the role is 31 year old Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, American Hustle). Who does he remind you of?

He’s certainly a more viable option for the studio. He’s younger, he won’t command an insane paycheck, and he doesn’t have Depp’s recent string of misfires working against him. He fits the Marvel mold much better.

This talk of Huston is just the latest in a line of apparent contenders. Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm was considered to top the list at one point, too. Even Joaquin Phoenix had his turn as “the guy in talks for Doctor Strange.” So this could go nowhere, or it could be that Marvel has finally found its man- having decided to stop going after big names.

We shall see.
