It’s been a long and winding road all ready for Quentin Tarantino’s next film, The Hateful Eight. There was the infamous script leak, then Tarantino’s outraged “It’s off!” response to said leak, then a star-studded staged reading, then a “It’s back on!” announcement from the director, a quick teaser, and now The Weinstein Company has announced a start date for filming.
The post-Civil War set western will go before cameras this January. The film will take place in a snowy Wyoming town, and center around a group of characters left stranded in the town after a blizzard diverts their stage coach. There’ll be bounty hunters, prisoners, Confederates, a Cow Puncher, a Hangman, and more- as hostilities within the town all come to a head.
If the cast of the aforementioned reading is any indication, Tarantino has put together quite a talented group. We’re talking Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Madsen.
The Weinstein’s have released a statement:
“We are incredibly excited to begin production onThe Hateful Eight, as we know this picture will be as innovative, brash and of course fun as all Quentin projects prior. There is, quite simply, no other filmmaker like him, and we are as proud as ever to continue this partnership that started over 20 years ago.”
