Yes, I know. Game of Thrones has ended, and now all of a sudden, it’s no longer popular to have HBO, right? Well, believe it or not, the network had tons of prime programming outside of its fantasy juggernaut, and this coming TV season looks to introduce and continue plenty of other high-profile shows for subscribers to enjoy.
The cable network recently dropped a new promo reel, and in it, we got a closer look at several shows. You can go ahead and check out the new promo reel below!

Without a doubt, there are some solid-looking shows here. For me personally, I’m looking forward to three in particular. The first is His Dark Materials. I’m a huge fan of the source material novels, and was super-disheartened by its treatment in the 2007 film The Golden Compass. Hopefully, with BBC’s involvement in the production, it’ll be more faithful to the spirit of the novels.
Next, of course, is Watchmen. This has been on our radar for quite some time, and I enjoy this one won’t actually be based on the graphic novel, but will instead be taking place in an alternate present day, decades after events in the graphic novel.
Finally, Silicon Valley has its final season coming up. This show started off as one of the most sharply-written and stressful comedies on TV, and in the seasons since, nothing has changed. It’s retained its high level of quality throughout, and I fear what the showrunners have in store for the Pied Piper crew this last time around.
