Damon Lindelof, who has hopped from his work on the Showtime series The Leftovers to the significantly more high profile series Watchmen, has recruited one of the talents from that previous show. According to a new report from Deadline, he has hired one of The Leftovers‘ episode directors, Nicole Kassell, to tackle the pilot for the graphic novel adaptation.

Kassell has experience with other shows like The Americans and Better Call Saul, but has only directed one other pilot, and that was for the TNT series Claws. As such, this is quite the leap up for her, and marks one of the highest-profile pilot assignments for a female director, which is great.

All eyes will be on this HBO adaptation when it comes out. After all, it was only recently that we got the Zack Snyder film adaptation, and given how faithful that one was, I’m personally interested to see what this one will do to separate itself from that movie.

HBO’s Watchmen is based on the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel that breaks down and deconstructs the typical superhero and vigilante story. The pilot is set to be written by Damon Lindelof.

Are you excited to hear about a Leftovers director taking on the pilot, and what do you hope to see from the series? Let us know down below!
