Marriage is to simply obey or till death do them part.
In the horror thriller Held, a married couple is forced into a makeshift prison with a mysterious character forcing commands against their will.
The film stars Jill Awbrey (Dent, All We Have Left) and Bart Johnson (High School Musical, JAG). The directing duo Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing helmed the project from a screenplay written by Awbrey.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In Held, Emma (Awbrey) and Henry’s (Johnson) marriage is losing its spark. In an effort to reconnect, they vacation to a remote high-end rental, complete with automated smart house features and integrated security. However, after suspecting a nighttime intruder they decide to flee, only to become forcibly trapped inside by the automated security system. Emitting from the house, an unknown “Voice” watches their every move through an array of hidden cameras, revealing an intimate and unsettling knowledge of their relationship. While the situation grows increasingly brutal, Emma and Henry must work together to uncover the truth and find a way out before it’s too late.

This movie is quite the supernatural horror departure from the direct duo of Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing. The pair found success in their cult horror success of The Gallows. Later, they followed up with a sequel The Gallows Act II. They’ve proven themselves with supernatural horror, so horror thriller is a bit different animal. Otherwise, Held appears to be a different take on a home invasion entirely.
Magnet Releasing will have Held in select theaters and On Demand on April 9.
