While Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman fans will never get to see the conclusion to their Hellboy trilogy realized, we’ve known for some time that a new reboot of the Hellboy character would be hitting the big screen in the near future. Now, THR is confirming that the next version of the character make his silver screen debut on January 11, 2019.

So what does this mean? It means that they’re likely getting along pretty well with the development and writing of the script, which is coming from Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, in addition to Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden.

Generally speaking, 10-12 months prior to a release date is when you can expect a bigger budget film to begin production, and if we’re to follow that precent, production will be beginning early next year. The studio may be pretty happy with the way the story’s all turning out to make an announcement like this — especially since the announcement hints at an upcoming shoot date.

Set to helm this project is The Descent director Neil Marshall. Taking on the lead role of Hellboy is Stranger Things actor David Harbour. Also joining in the darker take on the source material is Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, and Daniel Dae Kim.
