Hellboy Trailer Hits: Saving The World Just For The Hell Of It

The first official trailer for Hellboy was set to hit the web tomorrow. We got a fun little notification from actor David Harbour, and we were all prepared to have a good time when it did. However, some lovely trolls online had a better idea: why not just leak the damn thing beforehand? The internet got a hold of it, and it looks like the studio basically said to hell with it and released it for the masses to consume.

While I’m sure the studio is upset for this leak, it’s not exactly a bad thing. This is still very much a fun trailer that could very well get lots of mainstream folks excited. I was never that much of a fan of the Guillermo del Toro films, and this seems like a more fun, more irreverent change of pace from what we’re used to — without being over-the-top and fourth-wall-breaky like Deadpool.

Perhaps my favorite part of the trailer is when the annoyed Big Red yells out at the gunman who shoots at him, saying he’s on their side. Just his reaction alone really drives him his character as well as our world’s reaction to what he is. If there is one big complaint I am foreseeing it’s that it’s not as dark as some fans were hoping.

With this movie, fans were pitched a dark and bloody affair, but all we see here is a fun and bloody affair. Will it be enough? You be the judge. Does this look like the kind of Hellboy you want to see on the big screen? Let us know your thoughts down below!
