Way back before James Gunn was fired by Disney, we had the High Evolutionary rumored for Guardians 3 villain. That Barside Buzz is back on the menu, and this time from a very reputable source in KC Walsh of The GWW. Initially, the buzz way back was that this is Rocket’s movie, the High Evolutionary created him, he would meet another like him and there was also a rumor Gunn wanted Mark Hamill to play the High Evolutionary. Since then, which was quite some time ago, we have heard no details.
However KC Walsh said this on a recent appearance on their Change my Mind Podcast. Here is what he said:
“I did hear – this is a thing that’s been floating around – the villain of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is the High Evolutionary.”
It’s hard to say whether this is from new information Walsh has received or he’s just referring to the old rumors I did above?

Way I see it, over a long period of time there’s never been anything to debunk this claim. Let’s face it, if the High Evolutionary was not in the movie, we know James Gunn would just hit social media and debunk it himself. Famously Gunn also confirmed the Adam Warlock story that Will Poulter was cast. I would not however expect Gunn to come forward and say yay or nay for the villain of the movie. That seems a little too open, even for Gunn. However I do feel like he’d debunk it if it was completely BS also.
If of course, Gunn does debunk this, or any other rumor, we will be sure to cover it as always.
