Apple TV+ series Hijack is one of the most riveting and intense series, with the story mostly taking place in the skies. For seven episodes, passengers must endure that hijacked flight with mysterious villains.
To capture those captivating moments on a plane and on the ground, cinematographer Ed Moore was brought on board to capture the visions of directors Jim Field Smith and Mo Ali.
Idris Elba leads the cast as the passenger, Sam Nelson, who must carefully navigate between the crew, passengers, and terrorists so that everyone caught gets out alive. The series also stars Neil Maskell, Max Beesley, and Ben Miles.

When Flight KA29 is hijacked during its seven-hour journey from Dubai to London, Sam Nelson—an accomplished negotiator—tries using his professional skills to save everyone on board. Will this high-risk strategy be his undoing?

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with the director of photographer Ed Moore, the cinematographer for all seven episodes. He shared his love of planes, the cinematic approach, the challenges of the production, and the movie magic behind the scenes.
Ed Moore began his career in theatrical lighting before moving to film lighting. Eventually, he moved into working as director of photography and is currently represented by the WPA. He had worked extensively in high-end TV dramas, including Doctor Who, This Way Up, Dark Heart, Shetland, and Vera.
Hijack is currently streaming all the episodes on Apple TV+.
