Oh, my giddy aunt. I’ve been waiting for years and years for His Dark Materials to get a decent adaptation. I know director Chris Weitz had the best intentions with 2007’s The Golden Compass, but I know I’m not alone in that perspective. There were a lot of religious subjects the film was unwilling to touch on, but with this new HBO and BBC series, I may very well get the adaptation I want.

We’ve had a short teaser for several months, but I’ve honestly been waiting to see how Lin-Manuel Miranda performed as Lee Scoresby. In this new trailer, we get a few glimpses of him doing his best Texas accent.

All I can say is that its eventual release can’t get here quickly enough. The VFX look almost on par with the film, and the story more faithful in virtually every way.
