Hold The Dark Trailer: Damn What A Morbid-Ass Premise

“Hey there. My son was eaten by wolves. I want you to find his body parts so I can show my husband, who is away at war. Sound good?”

Yeah, that’s where things start in this trailer for the new Netflix film Hold the Dark. However, while that in and of itself is depressing and intriguing enough, that’s not where things end. As revealed in the trailer, it all goes so much deeper, with it being hinted at that the boy wasn’t just eaten by wolves.

I’m happy to see Jeffrey Wright leading this film. While he’s been a fantastic supporting actor, I’m interested to see how he does as lead (I kind of liken him to Paul Giamatti as a reliable supporting actor who hasn’t been given enough of a fair shake. We’ll see if he’s able to help this film rise to a new level.

Below is the official synopsis for Hold the Dark:

“A gripping psychological thriller unfolds in the treacherous Alaskan wilderness when a retired wolf expert is summoned to investigate a child’s disappearance. Hold The Dark, starring Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård and Riley Keough, and directed by Jeremy Saulnier, premieres on September 28, only on Netflix.”
