What is it about House of Cards that’s so rewarding to watch? Our leading characters are among the most deplorable human beings on the planet, and yet we’re drawn to the inherent drama in it all. Perhaps it’s the high stakes drama, along with the satisfaction of seeing highly capable people go head-to-head in a series of pissing contests.

Regardless, the Underwoods have clearly shown themselves capable of thriving under such circumstances, thus securing Frank’s ascension to the position of President of the United States of America. But of course, Frank isn’t satisfied with petering out on a single term. As we saw in the first teaser for the series, he has every intention of locking down that position for the rest of his life.

The latest teaser comes in the form of a tweet from the official House of Cards Twitter account. Check it out below:

In the video, we see Claire Underwood talking to us (presumably Americans), urging us to tell them what we see. The fear-mongering is oh-so-evident here, and it is a clear call to action to ignore as much information from the press, as they only “dwell on the past.” This message is very much in the Orwellian vein of 1984, and seems to be early steps the Underwoods are taking to ensure the presidency.

When last we saw Frank and Claire, they both looked unflinchingly at an execution, standing strong in the idea that they don’t submit to terror. They make the terror. This season seems to be a natural extension of the repercussions of that season. We’re interested to see how it all plays out, and how it all leads to the prolonged reign of the Underwoods.
