According to a new report from Deadline, House of the Dragon exec producer Jocelyn Diaz has left the show ahead of Season 2. This comes after co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik stepped down ahead of Season 2. Thus leaving Ryan Condal as the sole showrunner for this fantasy adaptation.
There is another change in the executive producer ranks of HBO’s House of the Dragon. Jocelyn Diaz will not be returning to the Game Of Thrones sequel as it is headed into its second season. Sources said she had a one-year deal with an option for a second, which is not being picked up.
One assumes Condal and HBO will need some new blood in to fill in the gaps left by both Sapochnik and Diaz ahead of Season 2 filming. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed the story being told in house of the Dragon. Not as much as parent series Game of Thrones. However, until the final few seasons, Thrones was my favorite all time TV series by far.

I’m not sure House of the Dragon has the legs, and the components to rival peak Thrones for me. However you never know? So far Season 1 has been every bit as entertaining and high quality as those early Thrones Seasons were.
I guess it is still the lack of the mysterious existential threat that we do have in Game of Thrones. That is what feels lacking for me still. Most of the other components that made Thrones great are there in spades. Now the question is whether Season 2 will be as good as Season 1 was without the help of Sapochnik and Diaz?
What do you think of the news? House of the Dragon exec producer Jocelyn Diaz has left the show ahead of Season 2 As always, let us know below.
