How Far Along Cassian Andor Was Before COVID-19 Shut Things Down | LRM’s Barside Buzz

Rumored New Andor Details Around A Scrapper Planet | Barside Buzz

A little update on the Cassian Andor series.

Quite understandably, Lucasfilm has been fairly secretive with the progress of their series. Yes, we got word about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series’ production getting “delayed,” but we still don’t know when they plan on launching that on Disney+. Similarly, while we know we’ll be getting a Cassian Andor series before that, actual news has been hard to come by.

In fact, as far as I knew from my own intel, they were in the process of building props and gearing up for sets. But how far along were they actually in this process? Comic Book Movie has the scoop this time around, courtesy of their interview with special effects supervisor Neal Scanlan.

“Originally, we were hoping to move into a few TV series,” Scanlan told the outlet. “The Mandalorian had obviously already started and has done incredibly well, it’s brilliant piece of work.

Scanlan continued: “We were here in the U.K. about to start on a couple of shows ourselves, but they all unfortunately got bumped. We just literally started about six weeks ago on the Cassian story until unfortunately the virus hit and we’re now all on lockdown. So, we’re trying to do the best we can from home.”

As stated above, this does fall in line with what I’d heard in weeks past from one of my sources. It also does contradict rumors from previous weeks surrounding the production getting delayed due to script issues. Based on Scanlan’s comments, they were at least confident enough to start working on the show for roughly six weeks.

Additionally, we can’t help but wonder what some of these other shows they wanted to move onto were. Is it possible he could be talking about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? CBM themselves point to the rumored Ahsoka Tano series. We’ve heard word about Rosario Dawson taking on the role of the fan-favorite character, and based on what we’ve heard about The Mandalorian spawning spinoffs, it would seem to hint at things slowly falling into place.

How do you feel about the Cassian Andor series being six weeks into pre-production? Let us know your thoughts down below!
