How Long Does South Park Have Left?

South Park is one of those shows that keeps on kicking. I remember watching it with friends back in high school mainly following all of the times that our beloved Kenny was killed! I watched the movie when it came out and then numerous times in college with my friends, but trailed off after that. Much like The Simpsons, which has been on for a solid 30 seasons, South Park is currently towards Season 23 which is the last on its current deal with Comedy Center. Does this mean the end of the fan-favorite show? It doesn’t appear so.

The Wrap was able to speak with Kent Alterman, President of Comedy Central, who stated, “We haven’t put an end date on it, and neither has our audience. As long as they’re still engaged and interested and bring such vitality to it, we’re all game.”

Where the show succeeds is in its current relevancy for a good deal of their material. Whether it is picking on The Simpsons, Al Gore, Brett Kavanaugh, etc. current characters/topics are still the chosen as targets to satirize. Alterman continued:

“I’m continually amazed at how sharp and relevant and provocative they are. They feel as strong and powerful in their creative genius today as they have been at any point in their run.”

The site also went on to add that the end of the show is pretty much in the hands of co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.  So South Park fans, you look to be good for a while!
