“Revolution is a Mother! This matriarch is ready to make her mark when The Great Season 2 premieres November 19, only on Hulu.” Hulu released the first season 2 trailer for their hilarious series, The Great. This series is a very loose historical retelling of Catherine The Great’s rise to power. I didn’t think I needed this show when I first heard about it, but damn was I wrong! I saw the first trailer and I was sold. Check out season 1 on Hulu. You won’t be disappointed.
The synopsis for season 2:
In season two of “The Great,” Catherine finally takes the Russian throne for her own—but if she thought coup-ing her husband was difficult, it’s nothing compared to the realities of liberating a country that doesn’t want to be. She’ll battle her court, her team, even her own mother (played by guest star Gillian Anderson) in a bid to bring the Enlightenment to Russia. Meanwhile, she’ll also battle her heart as Peter slowly transitions from a much-hated husband to a prisoner? Ally? Lover? Ultimately, Catherine will learn that to change a country, you must let it change you, that there is a fine line between idealism and delusion, and that becoming “Great” will ask more of her than she could have imagined.

The fight isn’t over. We left off season 1 with Peter being so hurt by Catherine’s plot to overthrow him, but now it seems he finds it amusing. It’s so much fun watching these two characters go at it, the intelligent Catherine and the foolish Peter. Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult did such an amazing job with The Great Season 1 and I can’t wait for season 2. Let the battle for Russia continue!
